In 2021 I decided that I wanted to take a break from permanent / long-term work and explore other ways of working that would permit me to have a greater variety of work and flexibility. Although a lot of people were incredulous at my decision to attempt something so unorthodox given my prior experience and roles, Tammy Tong and the team at Elliott Gray could not have been more supportive and encouraging and have really taken the time to get to know me and consider what I do and don’t want from a work-perspective. It’s very easy to default to the norm and always encourage a candidate towards the highest paying / billing / most senior / most long-term role available but I think it really takes finesse to have the judgment to understand what a candidate wants and match that candidate up with the most suitable role so that both candidate and agency / company are happy with the arrangement.
