The Directorate of Force Structure - Army (DFS-A) exists to deliver a land force structure capable of meeting Defence’s strategic requirements. A section focused on long-term strategic workforce planning, this team is willing to risk exceptions to policy and process to deliver reform outcomes that underpin the transformation of Army’s workforce, the adoption of Defence's Enterprise Resource Planning tool SAP, and the realisation of the Army Objective Force.

Undergoing an intense reform program, DFS-A are implementing multiple initiatives to simplify processes and generate improved workforce planning and adaptive establishment management. The program leverages proven Ai augmentation to enhance business processes to better inform future workforce planning.

This program of work can only be realised by bringing people together who are innovative, flexible, tech-savvy and question the ordinary. These guys ask 'why not' and work together to find the way forward.

An exciting role has been created at the APS 6 level for a forward-thinking, practical strategic officer to join this team and help innovate and create a new pathway to the realisation of the Army Objective Force.

We want a vibrant workforce planner for this role - but you don't need to bring years of experience in this space. You will need to work on both sides of the workforce planning – operational and strategic As a conceptual thinker, you can visualise and understand the intricacies of such a large body of work, and operationally you know how to bring it to life with practical solutions.

So what does all this mean?

To break it down for you - we want someone who understands the general principles of planning for a future workforce, knows how to strategically map processes to achieve outcomes, can work with technology with confidence and most importantly has the ability to take a problem and diligently, creatively work on a solution under limited direction.
