This is a fantastic opportunity to join an agile team that is helping to build a new carbon offsets scheme with international partners. As it is a work in progress, your adaptability to move with changing priorities and ability to be comfortable with uncertainty will allow you to navigate competing and shifting tasks. Your excellent interpersonal skills will help you to work collaboratively and productively with a wide range of stakeholder groups whilst your attention to detail will see you conduct research and writing tasks to a high standard.

Specific tasks you will undertake in this position include:
  • Conducting research into international policies and measures related to climate and energy under the Paris Agreement
  • Providing tracking, analysis and briefing on other countries' climate change commitments, policies and legislation
  • Responding to requests for data and analysis and presenting results visually for non-specialist audiences
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, participating in committees and forums
  • Providing technical advice in specific areas of policy
  • Undertaking research, analysis, integration and evaluation of technical information and/or scientific data relating to climate change
  • Contributing to the identification and implementation of systems improvement initiatives
  • Liaising with relevant professional bodies and associations
  • Liaising with internal and external professionals
You will ideally be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
  • one or more of these subjects: climate change policy, renewable energy, sustainable finance and carbon markets
  • effective written and verbal communication
  • working under limited supervision in a small team environment
  • project management, including the ability to independently deliver quality outcomes while managing competing priorities
  • responding constructively and flexibly to tight deadlines, change and uncertainty
  • analysing and reporting on complex technical or legislative content
  • critical and strategic thinking
  • developing and sustaining strong and productive networks within and across organisations
Offered as a 6 month non-ongoing position to start, there is the opportunity of extension (2 x 6 months). The annual salary range for this role is $88,781 - $96,279 based on experience.
